The accelerated possession procedure is a process involves getting a county court order for possession of a property. It is often quicker than using the standard re-possession procedure. It is used for possession of assured shorthold tenancies.
The procedure is referred to as an ‘accelerated possession procedure’ because in many cases a court will make a decision on the order from the available paperwork, there is no need for a court hearing. How quickly the Judge makes the decision depends on how quickly he does his paper work (often referred to as ‘box work’). A landlord should expect to receive the order in the post after six to ten weeks.
